Frequently Asked Questions - Answered

Q:  Can I burn wood and limbs outdoors in a fire pit?

A: It is actually a violation of Ohio EPA regulations and is considered "open burning". Please refer to the following State of Ohio web-site for further information:

http://www.epa.state.oh.us/dapc/regs/3745-19/3745_19.html

Q:  How can I become a Member of the Fire Department?

A:   Come on up and see us at 11000 Winton Road, or give us a call at 513-589-3583.  You must be at least 18 years of age and live in or very near the Village of Greenhills.  We would love to talk to you about all the benifits and responsibilities of being a member and how you can help your community!

In addition, if Fire Fighting and EMS is not in your future, we also have a Department Auxiliary.  We are always looking for skilled people able to help with things like computers, administrative tasks, maintenance, and fund raising.

Q: Can I learn CPR or First Aid through the Greenhills Fire Department?

A: CPR and First Aid Classes are available to groups. The following conditions apply:

1. Non profit groups and local government agencies located in the Fire District are eligible to receive Basic First Aid and CPR Training for the cost of supplies only. This averages about $20.00 per participant and results in certification from the American Heart Association

2. Residents of the Fire District can receive free CPR and First Aid training that does NOT result in AHA certification. To arrange a class you must have a group of four or more who will attend the class.

3. Businesses can receive First Aid/ CPR training for a fee.

To find out more about CPR and First Aid Training contact the CPR Instruction Coordinator.

Q: Can I get a Greenhills Fire Department Patch?

A: Due to the present security conditions, the large volume of requests, and the cost of patches, we do not trade or sell department patches. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Q:   Why is the firehouse called "Station48"?

A: That is the designation for The Greenhills Fire Department from the Hamilton County Communications Center (HCCC).  All 911 emergency calls are routed through the call center and dispatched using the latest digital technologies. Our equipment is numbered "48" for radio communications - "Squad 48", "Quint 48", etc.  All departments in the county have a HCCC number to avoid confusion or delay in an emergency.
